London and West Country floral designer Helen Edwards. My design style reflects an English garden, an herbaceous border. There is always a natural, relaxed and elegant abundance in my designs.

Starting 2018 on a high with some pics from a fabulous DecorCafe collaboration. Interior designer Caroline Corbett (nee Browne) held her wedding at the beautiful Lensbury Club Twickenham this summer and chose Helen Edwards of The Velvet Daisy to do the flowers.
The theme was “Tropical”. Caroline’s idea grew from her, now, husband’s Cuban band who were scheduled to play latino music at the wedding. Green was the interiors colour for 2017 and the tropical theme is a strong trend for interiors, but we have never seen it for a wedding.
Caroline had a very clear idea of how she wanted the flowers to look; the colours, the varieties, the shapes and textures and Helen used her detailed knowledge and expertise to achieve a perfect result.
“Caroline wanted a wonderful brilliant colour palette of bright corals and hot pinks but no orange” says Helen. “We put together a design to include a variety of bright pink orchids, calla lillies, ‘Miss Piggy’ coral roses, baby pineapples the with mustard yellow of craspedia and tropical leaves. Everything vibrant, loose and informal with plenty of textures and shapes.”
“It wasn’t as easy as you might think as it is winter in the tropics during the UK summer and tropical flowers are not as readily available.” Luckily Helen’s close relationship with her wholesalers paid off and Dennis Edwards (not a relation!) at New Covent Garden Market managed to match the selected colours and designs perfectly with gorgeous results.
Banana Palms created the perfect place settings for each guest at the table and clear stemmed vases ensured that the conversation flowed and everyone could see the very happy couple and enjoy the speeches.
Caroline says “the flowers Helen created were stunning. She interpreted my ideas perfectly and added her extra magic to exceed my wildest expectations too. Helen really went the extra mile and even pulled an extra arrangement out of the hat at the last minute!”
A beautiful DecorCafe Collaboration.
